San Daniele Comboni

Limone sul Garda: between history and religion

In the footsteps of St Daniele Comboni

In the village of Tesöl, between the scents of citrus fruits, stands the historic Limonaia, birthplace of St. Daniel Comboni (Limone s/G 1831 - Khartoum 1881), missionary and first bishop of Central Africa.

Today, the complex houses missionaries and Comboni missionaries who welcome pilgrims, groups and tourists who want to know the life and work of this extraordinary believer. You can visit the birthplace, the museum and the lemon garden to have an experience that combines spirituality, history and scenic beauty.

Tradition and citrus on the Riviera dei Limoni

Limonaia Castel

The Limonaia del Castel in Limone sul Garda is an ancient terraced greenhouse built in the 18th century for the cultivation of citrus fruits. Restored and opened to the public in 2004, it preserves its original appearance with stone walls, pillars, and a central building that now houses a small museum. Located in the historic center, it hosts numerous varieties of lemons, oranges, citrons, and other citrus fruits. It is one of the few historic lemon houses still open to visitors on Lake Garda and represents a symbol of the agricultural tradition and landscape of the Riviera dei Limoni.
